The Washington College Summer Program in English Literature at Kiplin Hall is a
three-week program offered in York, England. Kiplin Hall is the ancestral seat of the
Calvert family, one of the founding families of the State of Maryland.
Students will take classes and attend lectures in the morning and participate in field
excursions in the afternoon. Sites of significant historic, literary, landscape, and
architectural interest will be part of the field experience. Students will have an
opportunity to explore areas where Wordsworth, Coleridge, Shelley, and others found
so much inspiration. Situated in the heart of England, Kiplin Hall provides an excellent location for trips to
Stratford-on-Avon, the Bronte Museum in Haworth, and the Beatrix Potter House in
the Lake District.
