Helen Cooper is at the forefront of scholars when it comes to Chaucer and the medieval ages. Her list of achievements include being the first woman fellow at University College and currently teaching as the Professor of Medieval and Renaissance English at the University of Cambridge (a post originally created for C.S. Lewis). Professor Cooper is interested in the continuity of literature across the Middle Ages and Renaissance. She is the author of The English Romance in Time: Transforming Motifs from Geoffrey of Monmouth to the Death of Shakespeare (her latest book, and the theme of her Washington College presentation) and A Chaucerian Year among countless other publications.
